There are 4 types of tiles you can add to dashboards:

Visualization, which adds a new look to your dashboard. If you want to add an existing look to your dashboard, see Add an existing look to a dashboard instead.

Text, which displays static text and links on your dashboard using standard text editing controls.
- Markdown, which allows you to add static content like text or logos using markdown.
- Button, which adds a button to your dashboard that opens a specific URL. For example, you could add a button that links one dashboard to another.
The sections below include instructions for adding each type of tile.
Add a visualization tile
Before you begin
Follow these steps to add a brand new look to your dashboard. If you want to add a look that you've already created, see Add an existing look to a dashboard instead.
To add a new visualization to your dashboard:

Open the dashboard in edit mode. To learn how, see Edit a dashboard.

Click Add Tile > Visualization:

Select the Explore you want to use as the basis for your look.

Enter a name for your tile:

Select the fields you want to include. To learn how, see Add or remove fields
Note: Because you're already in edit mode, you can skip step 1 in the linked article.

Continue configuring your visualization by doing any of the following:

To preview your visualization, click Run.

When you're finished editing your visualization, click Save.

(Optional) To move the tile to a new position, drag and drop it where you want it to appear:

When you're finished editing your dashboard, click Save.
To add a text tile:

Open the dashboard in edit mode. To learn how, see Edit a dashboard.

Click Add > Text:

Enter the text you want to display and use the formatting options to style it:

Click Save.

(Optional) To move the tile to a new position, drag and drop it where you want it to appear:

When you're finished editing, click Save.
Add a markdown tile
Tip
To learn how to add a logo using the markdown tile type, see Add a logo to a dashboard.
To add a markdown tile:

Open the dashboard in edit mode. To learn how, see Edit a dashboard.

Click Add > Markdown:

Enter the text you want to display in the Title, Subtitle, and Body fields:
Note: You can fill in as many or as few of these fields as you want to display. For example, if you only need body text, you can leave the Title and Subtitle fields blank.

Click Save.

(Optional) To move the tile to a new position, drag and drop it where you want it to appear:

When you're finished editing, click Save.
Add a button tile
To add a button tile:

Open the dashboard in edit mode. To learn how, see Edit a dashboard.

Click Add > Button:
- In the Content tab, configure the following settings:
- In the Label field, enter the label you want to be displayed on the button.
- In the Link field, enter the URL you want the button to link to.
Tip: If you're linking to another dashboard, you can can find its URL by holding the CTRL key (on a PC) or the Command key (on a Mac) and clicking it in the list. This opens a new tab in your browser with the URL of the dashboard in the address bar. You can then copy and paste the URL into the link field. - (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description of what the button does. This text will be displayed as a tooltip when users hover their cursor on the button.
- To open the link in a new browser tab, select the Open in a new browser tab checkbox:
- In the Design tab, configure the following settings:
- In the Button Style drop-down list, select how you want the button to be styled.
- In the Color drop-down list, select a color for the button.
- Select one of the Button Size options to resize the button.
- Select one of the Alignment options to change the button's alignment on the dashboard:
- Click Save.
- When you're finished editing your dashboard, click Save.
