Before you begin
We recommend using these explores only for reporting that requires custom fields. For all other reporting needs, you should continue using the standard explores.
Plans: Professional and Enterprise
Audience: Creators in Analytics (learn more)
If your organization uses custom fields in assets, parts, or work orders, you can use the Asset Custom Fields and Work Order Custom Fields explores to include that data in your dashboards. These explores also respect the data type for your custom fields when filtering and aggregating. For example, a filter that uses a custom date field works the same as any other date filter.

Supported functionality
The table below shows which Analytics functionality is supported with custom fields:
| Functionality | Supported |
|---|---|
| Filtering dashboards by custom fields | ✔️ |
| Creating custom dimensions based on custom fields | ✔️ |
| Creating custom measures based on custom fields | ✔️ |
| Using custom fields in table calculations | ✔️ |
| Drilling down into custom fields | ❌ |
| Drilling down into custom dimensions and measures that are based on custom fields | ❌ |
Data refresh
Unlike other fields in these explores, custom field data is not refreshed immediately, meaning that there is a delay between making changes to custom fields and when those changes are reflected in Analytics:
- The data in this explore is refreshed hourly. For example, if you change the value in one of your asset records, that change will be live in Analytics an hour later.
- Changes to custom field configurations are refreshed after each biweekly Analytics release. This means that if you create a new custom field, delete a custom field, or edit the name of an existing custom field, those changes will be live in Analytics only after the next release.
