1. Assets
1a - The category of an asset cannot be "Assets" directly, it has to be one of the sub-categories. This means every asset must be in the Facilities, Equipment, Tools or Parts & Supplies categories, or one of their sub categories.
2. Sites
2a - The category of a site must be "Facility" (or any Facilities sub-category).
2b - A Site cannot have a parent or location. A Site is at the top level in the hierarchy.
2c - If an asset has no parent or location, its intSiteID must refer to (No Site).
3. Facilities
3a - A facility can be part of any other facility.
3b - A facility cannot be "part of" an equipment. You cannot have a location in a piece of equipment.
4. Equipment
4a - An equipment can be located at any facility.
4b - An equipment can alternatively be a part of another equipment. For example, an engine on a speedboat.
4c - An equipment cannot be located at a facility and part of an equipment at the same time.
5. Tools
5a - A tool can be located at any facility.
5b - A tool can alternatively be a part of another equipment.
5c - A tool cannot be located at a facility and part of an equipment at the same time.
5d - A tool cannot have any descendants.
6. Parts and Supplies
6a - A part/supply cannot have any descendants.
6b - The CMMS uses stock records to give locations to parts and supplies. Put another way, a part can be stocked in multiple locations, those being stock records.
