This article includes some examples of how notifications can be configured in your CMMS for different types of users.
In this sample case, the technician only wants to receive notifications for work assigned to them or their team.
1. Turn off all automatic notifications:
2. By simply assigning them to the PMs or work orders, they automatically get added to the notifications tab, and receive those selected notifications.
2. Line Manager
In the second example, the line manager does not do any of the work, but they want to be notified when anything happens to the equipment on their line.
1. Open the asset hierarchy, and click the user's line asset:
2. Assign the user to the personnel tab of the line asset:
3. Configure the user notifications to get all notifications for "Assets in the facilities that I manage
3. Equipment or Process Owner
In this next situation, the equipment or process is owned by an individual or group. For example, the master brewer owns the mashing process in the brewery so needs to know when something happens on the boiler as it could affect the final product. This user wants to be notified when any work orders are created on their assigned assets:
1. Open the asset hierarchy, and click into the boiler asset and assign the user to the notifications tab of the asset:
2. Configuration the user notifications to get all notifications for "Assets in the facilities that I manage"
4. Vendor Maintenance
In this example, the internal maintenance organization performs daily and weekly PMs on the asset. They also do light maintenance work. The equipment manufacturer is called in to do annual PMs, major repairs, and 5-year overhauls.
If you assign the vendor to the asset, they will get all notifications including PMs and work orders they are not involved in. To configure the system so they only get the notifications they need:
1. Add the vendor as an inactive user to the CMMS as per the Add a new user procedure.
2. Assign the vendor user to the major PMs they will complete:
3. Assign the vendor to the major breakdown work orders as they occur.
