Before you begin
If you're using v6 Equipment, it is currently not possible to generate a work order with a meter reading or event trigger.
Permissions: Access to scheduled maintenance
Triggers are set conditions that must be satisfied for scheduled maintenance to generate work orders.
Trigger types
There are three types of triggers:
- Time-based triggers, which generate work orders at set time intervals, such as once every 3 weeks.
- Meter reading triggers, which generate work orders when an associated meter's reading reaches a specified value.
- Event triggers, which generate work orders when an event occurs on an associated asset.

Fixed and floating triggers
Time-based and meter reading triggers can be fixed or floating. A fixed trigger generates work orders strictly based on the set interval and original starting date or meter reading. On the other hand, a floating trigger generates work orders based on the set interval and the meter reading or date recorded when the previous work order was created.
Multiple triggers
You can have multiple triggers active on a single scheduled maintenance record. To specify whether the to generate a work order upon all of the triggers being satisfied, or any of the triggers, select the corresponding option in the tab:
