Permissions: Access to scheduled maintenance
Time-based triggers generate work orders at set time intervals, such as once every 3 weeks. You can specify the time interval as needed.
To add a time-based trigger to a scheduled maintenance record:
- Navigate to the scheduled maintenance record you want to add a trigger to in Maintenance > Scheduled Maintenance.
- Click the Scheduling tab:
- Specify whether the to generate a work order upon all of the triggers being satisfied, or any of the triggers, by selecting the corresponding option in the tab:
- Click the Add icon at the bottom left of the table:
- In the Scheduled Maintenance Trigger window, make sure the Generate Work Order By Time Schedule option is selected:
- Select the type of time-based trigger (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly).
- Enter the associated value or values for the schedule:
These fields differ depending on the type of trigger chosen. - Select whether the trigger date is floating or fixed (if you chose a weekly trigger, skip this step):
Note
Fixed triggers generate work orders on a fixed schedule, regardless of when the previous work order was generated or closed. Floating triggers generate work orders depending on the specified interval and when the previous work order was generated or closed.
To learn more, see About fixed and floating triggers. - Set the start and end date for the trigger to be active:
If you want the trigger to remain active indefinitely, select No End Date. - Click OK.
- Click Save in the top menu bar.
Note
It can take up to 30 minutes for scheduled maintenance to generate a work order, meaning that your work order could be generated up to 30 minutes after the trigger has been set off.
