Before you begin
If you're using v6 Equipment, it is currently not possible to generate a work order with a meter reading or event trigger.
Permissions: Access to scheduled maintenance
Meter reading triggers generate work orders when an associated meter's reading reaches a specified value.
To add a meter reading trigger to a scheduled maintenance record:
- Navigate to the scheduled maintenance record you want to add a trigger to in Maintenance > Scheduled Maintenance.
- Click the Scheduling tab:
- Specify whether to generate a work order upon all of the triggers being satisfied, or any of the triggers, by selecting the corresponding option in the tab:
- Click the Add icon at the bottom left of the table:
- In the Scheduled Maintenance Trigger window, select Generate Work Order By Meter Reading Trigger:
- Do one of the following:
- Select Every if you want the trigger to occur at an interval (for example, every 500 kilometres recorded on the meter).
- Select When if you want the trigger to occur at a certain range (for example, whenever the reading is less than 500 kilometers).
- Select the unit to be used.
- Do one of the following:
- If you selected Every:
- Enter the interval and start value for the meter reading.
- Select End By and enter the end reading, or select No End Reading if you want the trigger to remain active indefinitely.
- Select Fixed Schedule or Floating Schedule.
Note
Fixed triggers generate work orders on a fixed schedule, regardless of when the previous work order was generated or closed. Floating triggers generate work orders depending on the specified interval and when the previous work order was generated or closed.
To learn more, see About fixed and floating triggers. - If you selected Floating Schedule, select By Work Order Closed if you want the trigger to generate work orders based on the reading recorded when the previous work order was closed (instead of when it was generated).
- If you selected When:
- Select either Reading is Less than or Reading is Greater than.
- Enter the desired value.
- If you selected Every:
- Click OK.
- Click Save in the top menu bar.
