Before you begin
Version: v5 (what does this mean?)
You may find that you have multiple assets with the same name in the CMMS, which can make it difficult for your users to quickly determine which is which:
We suggest that when you name assets, you give them a unique name and use a naming convention to add additional identifying information to each asset:
A naming convention uses shorthand or a code to add more identifying information to the asset name, like:
- Where the asset is located
- Which team or workstream uses the asset
- Manufacturer, make, or model number
- Asset operational status
Naming convention suggestions
You can use your naming convention in both the asset name or the asset code. You can apply the naming convention to all assets, or just some of your assets. Choose what works best for you and your organization, or consult your Fiix representative for assistance.
