Plans: All, including multi-site configurations.
Audience: Administrators and users assigned to the default Logistics user group.
Related: Transfer stock between locations
Stock records that exists at one site or location can be added and removed from other locations through the stock record.
To transfer stock using stock transfer, the stock needs to be added and active in both locations.
In this article:
Add stock to a location
Add a location to the stock record to show that the stock exists in both locations. When you add a location, the stock automatically becomes active at the new location.
This step is required to transfer stock between locations if the stock is not already at both locations.
- Navigate to Supplies > Parts and Supplies.
- Click the stock item to update.
- Under the stock tab, click the Add (
) button:
- Select the desired location from the Location dropdown:
- Edit the available quantity (qty on hand), minimum quantity (min qty), and maximum quantity (max qty):
- Leave the status toggle as Active so that the stock will show as active in the new location:
- Click OK to save.
Delete stock from location
- Navigate to Supplies > Parts and Supplies.
- Click the stock item to update.
- Hover over the stock location to be deleted and click the Delete icon:

Click Ok to confirm deletion:
Note
Deleting a stock location may result in the error message: "This stock item has been consumed by Work Orders and may not be deleted". This stock location can't be deleted because that would remove it from all of its associated open and closed work orders. So to retain the integrity of your historical records, this stock location can't be deleted.
As a workaround, users can deactivate stock instead.
