This article provides a high-level overview of the basic navigation features in Analytics, including:
To learn more about viewing your looks and dashboards, see the View looks and dashboards section.
Dashboard buttons and navigation
The following controls allow you to interact with your dashboards:
# |
Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
1 |
Add to favorites | Adds the dashboard to your Favorites folder so that you can find it easily. |
2 |
Filters |
Allows you to filter the dashboard. The filters provided vary across dashboards. Tip: The filters you select aren't applied until you click reload (row 4 below). |
3 |
Last refreshed | Shows the last time the dashboard data was refreshed. This value gets updated whenever you apply a filter or clear your cache and refresh your data. |
4 |
Reload |
Reloads the dashboard display (such as when you apply a filter), but does not refresh the underlying data. Tip: If this button is highlighted blue, it means that you've selected filters but haven't yet reloaded the dashboard to apply them. |
5 |
Show or hide filters | Expands and collapses (i.e. shows and hides) the filters section of the dashboard. |
6 |
Dashboard actions menu | Displays a menu with additional actions, such as Clear cache and refresh (which refreshes the underlying data to reflect recent changes) and Download. |
7 |
Folders |
Opens and closes the folders list, allowing you to navigate between all your looks and dashboards. To learn more about these folders, see the Folder navigation section below. |
Tile buttons and navigation
The following controls allow you to interact with tiles in your dashboards:
# |
Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
1 |
Explore from here |
Opens the explore, which is the dataset that the dashboard was created from. In this view, you can access additional fields, filters, and options so that you can surface the data you need. Note: This feature requires creator access in Analytics. |
2 |
Drill down | In some tiles, you can click a data point to drill down into it. For example, clicking the "1" in the image above opens a list of the work orders due that day. |
3 |
Tile actions menu | Displays a menu with additional tile-specific actions, such as Clear cache and refresh, which refreshes the underlying data for that tile to reflect recent changes. |
4 |
Alerts |
Allows you to create alerts that notify you when specific conditions are met. To learn more, see Create alerts for dashboard tiles. Note: This feature requires creator access in Analytics. |
Folder navigation
To view and navigate between folders, click the folder button at the top right of the screen in Analytics (number 7 in the Dashboard navigation section above). Your looks and dashboards are sorted into the following folders:
| Folder | Contains |
|---|---|
| Favorites | The looks and dashboards that you've favorited (see number 1 in the Dashboard navigation section). |
| My folder |
The looks and dashboards that you've created and saved in this folder. The content you save in this folder is not shared with other users. Note: This requires creator access in Analytics. If you have viewer or user access, this folder will be empty. |
| Shared | The standard looks and dashboards we provide to all organizations. For a full list of the content we provide, see the Look library or Dashboard library. |
| Group |
The looks and dashboards created and shared with you by those in your organization with creator access. The content you save in this folder will be shared with all Analytics users at your organization. Note: You must have creator access to save content in this folder. If you have viewer or user access, you can view the content in this folder, but you can't create new looks or dashboards. |
These folders may also contain sub-folders. To learn more about creating folders, see Create a folder in Analytics.
