Before you begin
This functionality is only available to customers on the Professional tier or above, who have enabled multi-site support. To learn more, see About multi-site and single-site configurations.
By default, all of your sites use the system timezone, which is configured in Settings > CMMS Settings > System. However, if you have sites in different timezones, you can update each site's settings to use its local timezone.
When you change a site's timezone:
Non-admin users view each site's data using the site's timezone. For example, if a non-admin user has access to site Site A (which uses EST) and Site B (which uses PST), the application displays Site A's data in EST and Site B's in PST. This change means that non-admin users no longer have to adjust for the local time when using the application.
Admin users continue to view all data using the system timezone. This allows for easier analysis of data across sites, as all information is displayed in a single timezone.
Furthermore, scheduled maintenance triggers work orders based on the site's timezone, which prevents an issue where a work order could be overdue as soon as it's received in cases where there's a big difference between the system and local timezones.
The mobile app uses the device timezone, rather than the timezone configured in the application. For example, if a user's site is configured to use EST, but their device is configured to use PST, the app is displayed in PST.
API calls use UTC date and time. When data created via API calls is displayed in the application, it respects the display logic outlined above (namely, system timezone for admins and site timezone for non-admins).
Only users with admin access can complete this task.
To change the timezone for a site:
Navigate to Settings > CMMS Settings > Sites.
Click the Site Settings link next to the name of the site you want to change the timezone for:
Select the appropriate timezone from the Site Time Zone drop-down list.
