Asset events are events like earthquakes, power outages, or human error that result in assets requiring maintenance.
When you record an asset event, a work order is generated with the tasks associated with that event. You can pre-configure asset events to ensure the correct work order tasks are generated. To create your first asset event, see Create asset event types.

Record an asset event
Recording an asset event means associating an event with an asset, triggering a work order with the necessary tasks.
- Navigate to Assets.
- Click on an asset that the event affected. You can only record one event on one asset at a time.
- Select the Metering/Events tab.
- Under the Most Recent Asset Event header, click Add.
- Choose the asset event type (if there are none in this list, first create one).
- In the description field, include the details of why this event is being recorded on this asset at this time for your records.
- Click OK.
- You can verify that a work order was generated by navigating to the Work Orders list, which should now include the work order generated from recording the event.
