Asset event types are your library of events like natural disasters or errors that can occur, customized to your organization and location, that generate a work order when they occur.
After creating your asset event types, then you can configure asset events and record an asset event.

Create an event type manually
Create your library of event types, which can then be configured and recorded on an asset.
To create an event type manually
- Navigate to CMMS Settings > Lookup tables.
- Under the Asset Event Types header, click the Add button:
- Add an event code, event name, and event description (mandatory) and click OK:
- Add event types until you're satisfied with your event type library. Note that event types can't be deleted once they've been recorded on an asset, so ensure the event types are configured to your liking before assigning them to assets.
- Now you can configure the events to automatically generate a work order when the event is recorded on an asset.
Create event types in bulk using a spreadsheet
Event types can also be added to the CMMS in bulk using bulk import. This requires a CSV file with headers for Event Code, Event Name, and Event description.
To add event types in bulk using a spreadsheet:
- Navigate to Settings > Imports.
- Click Import Asset Event Types.
- In the Import Event Types window:
- Click Upload to choose a spreadsheet from your local drive.
- If the spreadsheet does not include headers (and only includes raw data), uncheck the My Data Includes Headers box so that the system will infer the correct headers.
- Click Continue:
- Match your spreadsheet headers to the correct data fields in Fiix and click Continue. The dropdown options contain Fiix's headers, and the lefthand labels are the headers your spreadsheet had.
- Verify your import in the summary window and click Import:
- Click Done.
- Now you can configure the events to automatically generate a work order when the event is recorded on an asset.
