An inspection task is a type of task with a pass or fail result. You can add follow-on actions (creating a work order or notifying users or user groups) to these tasks that occur after either result. For example, you may want to create a follow-on work order if the task fails.
To add an inspection task to a work order:
- If the work order you want to assign isn't already open, click it in the work order list in Maintenance > Work Orders.
- Click the Tasks tab.
- Click Add and select Task from the drop-down list:
- Under Task type, click Inspection:
- Under Associate, click Work order to associate the task with the work order as a whole, or Asset to associate it with specific assets.
- If you selected Asset, do one of the following:
- If you know which assets are associated with the task, select them from the Asset drop-down list:
- If you’re not sure which assets are associated with the task, select the I can’t find the asset checkbox:
- If you know which assets are associated with the task, select them from the Asset drop-down list:
- Enter a description for the task. This is how you’ll tell the assigned user what they need to do.
- (Optional) To specify when work should begin on the task, use the date and time controls in the Suggested start date and time field.
- (Optional) Enter the estimated time it'll take to finish the task.
- (Optional) To assign the task to a different user:
- Click the Change button in the Assigned To field.
- Select the user or user group you want to assign the task to.
- (Optional) To add any follow-on actions for this inspection task:
- Select the Add follow-on actions checkbox.
- Select any of the checkboxes for the follow-on actions you want to add:
Note: The N/A result is disabled by default. To learn how to enable this feature, see Enable the N/A result option for inspection tasks. - Fill in the required fields for any of the follow-on actions you selected:
- Click Save.
