Attachments allow you to add additional information, such as user guides or images, to your equipment record.
There are two types of attachments:
- Files, which get saved directly in the equipment record. For example, you could upload an image of the equipment.
- Links, which allow you to direct users to information that's already uploaded to the web. For example, you could add a link to an instructional video for servicing the equipment.
Add a file to an equipment record
To add a file to an equipment record:
- In Assets > Equipment, click the piece of equipment you want to add a file to:
- Click the Attachments tab.
- Do one of the following:
- If this is the first attachment on this piece of equipment, click the Add your first attachment button:
- If there are already attachments on this piece of equipment, click Create:
Tip
If you don’t want to enter a description for the file, you can also add file attachments by dragging and dropping files into the “Drag and drop” section. However, this section is only displayed after you‘ve added an attachment.
- If this is the first attachment on this piece of equipment, click the Add your first attachment button:
- In the Type field, click File:
- Click the Select Files button.
- Select the files you want to upload.
- (Optional) If you only uploaded one file, you can enter a description for the file.
If you uploaded multiple files, the app disables this field. - Click Create.
- Do one of the following:
- If you're finished uploading files, click OK.
- If you want to upload additional files, click Upload New and repeat steps 5-9.
Add a link to an equipment record
To add a link to an equipment record:
- In Assets > Equipment, click the piece of equipment you want to add a file to.
- Click the Attachments tab.
- Do one of the following:
- If this is the first attachment on this piece of equipment, click the Add your first attachment button:
- If there are already attachments on this piece of equipment, click Create:
- If this is the first attachment on this piece of equipment, click the Add your first attachment button:
- In the Type field, click Link:
- In the Link field, enter or paste the URL you want to link to.
- In the Name field, enter a name for the link (e.g. Forklift maintenance instructional video).
- (Optional) Enter a description for the link.
- (Optional) To automatically create another link right after this one, select the Create another checkbox.
- Click Create.
- If you opted to create another link in step 8, repeat steps 4-9 for the new link.
