To edit equipment details, in Assets > Equipment, click the equipment name in the list:
You can edit any of the following fields:

| Name | The name of this piece of equipment. | Forklift 1 |
| Code | A unique identifier for this piece of equipment. You can either enter your own code or use the one that the app provided by default when you created the equipment record. Note: When you create a new equipment record, the app doesn’t display the code it automatically generates until you click Save. |

| Criticality | A number between 1 and 10 that represents this piece of equipment’s relative criticality compared to other equipment. The app doesn’t apply any underlying logic to this field, which means that you can determine which value (1 or 10) represents the highest criticality based on your organization’s needs. If more than one person will be creating equipment records, you should determine ahead of time how you want to use this field so that all equipment records use the same scale. |

| Category | The category this piece of equipment belongs to. This information is helpful for filtering your equipment records, and it is required if you want to use barcodes. To learn more, see the Create equipment categories. |

| Parent | Adding a parent to a piece of equipment allows you to show where this equipment fits in the hierarchy. When you view equipment in the hierarchy view, child assets are nested beneath their parent in the hierarchy. For example, if you had equipment records for both a vehicle and its engine, you could configure the vehicle as the parent record to the engine. This would show that the engine belongs to (i.e. is a component of) the vehicle. Switch on the Use parent location toggle below this field for this piece of equipment to use its parent’s address. |

| Address Line 1 | The street address where this piece of equipment is located. | 40 Hanna Ave |
| Address Line 2 | The second line of the street address, such as a unit or suite number. | Unit 500 |

| Longitude | If you prefer to identify a piece of equipment’s location using its coordinates rather than its address, you can enter the coordinates in these fields. When you enter one of these values, the other automatically becomes a required field. |

| Users and/or User Groups | The users and user groups that you assign to a piece of equipment will receive notifications about it, such as when its status changes. To learn more, see Assign equipment to users and user groups. |

| Account | Use these fields to assign accounts and charge departments to your equipment. Before you can use these fields, you must first create accounts and charge departments in Settings > CMMS Settings > Lookup Tables. To learn more, see Charge departments & accounts. |

| Barcode | The value for the equipment’s barcode. When you enter a valid barcode, the app displays the corresponding barcode. The format the barcode uses depends on how its equipment category has been configured. To learn more, see Create equipment categories. |
