Before you begin
These pre-release notes offer a preview of an upcoming release. As a result, some details may change between now and the actual release date.
Audience: Creators in Analytics (learn more)
Plans: Professional and Enterprise
We've added two new explores that provide better access to your asset and work order custom fields in Analytics.
The new Asset custom fields and Work order custom fields explores include your custom fields automatically, without needing any workarounds or additional configuration to expose them. They also respect the data type for your custom fields when filtering and aggregating. For example, a filter that uses a custom date field works the same as any other date filter.
We recommend using these explores only for reporting that requires custom fields. For all other reporting needs, you should continue using the standard explores.
Fields by explore
The explores include the following data:
| Explore | Includes | Does not include |
|---|---|---|
| Asset custom fields |
|
|
| Work order custom fields |
|

Supported functionality
The table below shows which Analytics functionality is supported with custom fields:
| Functionality | Supported |

| Filtering dashboards by custom fields | ✔️ |
| Creating custom dimensions based on custom fields | ✔️ |
| Creating custom measures based on custom fields | ✔️ |
| Using custom fields in table calculations | ✔️ |
| Drilling down into custom fields | ❌ |
| Drilling down into custom dimensions and measures that are based on custom fields | ❌ |
Data refresh
Unlike other fields in these explores, custom field data is not refreshed immediately, meaning that there is a delay between making changes to custom fields and when those changes are reflected in Analytics:
- The data in this explore is refreshed hourly. For example, if you change the value in one of your asset records, that change will be live in Analytics an hour later.
- Changes to custom field configurations are refreshed after each biweekly Analytics release. This means that if you create a new custom field, delete a custom field, or edit the name of an existing custom field, those changes will be live in Analytics only after the next release.
