Before you begin
Version: v6 (what does this mean?)
Plans: Basic, Professional, and Enterprise
Audience: Administrators and users with the Create users system role permission.
The bulk user import feature allows you to import multiple user accounts all at once. Users can be imported in bulk by manually entering user data or by uploading a spreadsheet containing user data.
By default, bulk imported users are not assigned to any sites or groups and their statuses are set to deactivated. Before an imported user can log in, you must activate their account.
There are two ways to bulk import:
Bulk import manually from user data
To manually enter user data in the in-built form:
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
-
Click the Action (...) button:
Note
If the Action (...) button isn't visible, it might be due to your permissions or plan. Contact our support team for more information.
- Click Import Users:
- Manually enter your data in the correct cells. Columns with an asterisk (*) are mandatory:
- Click Submit.
- If there are issues with the data, a pop-up window will prompt you to fix the fields with issues. Click Submit.
Bulk import from a spreadsheet
The easiest way to bulk import users is to use a spreadsheet, like Excel or Google Sheets, saved as a .CSV or .TSV file.
Uploading from a spreadsheet includes the following steps:
Create the user import spreadsheet
To bulk import users from a spreadsheet, you need to create the user import file and populate it with user data. Your spreadsheet (saved as a .CSV or .TSV file) should include the following data columns:
| Headers | Required | Optional |
|---|---|---|
| Name | ✔ | |
| Email address* | ✔ | |
| Role | ✔ | |
| Username* | ✔ | |
| Job title | ✔ | |
| Personnel code | ✔ | |
| Phone number | ✔ | |
| Address | ✔ | |
| City | ✔ | |
| State or Province | ✔ | |
| Country | ✔ | |
| Zip or Postal code | ✔ |
*In some apps, username may replace email address as a required field.
These columns should be aligned horizontally along the top of your spreadsheet, with the data filled underneath the appropriate header.
Upload and review the spreadsheet
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
- Click the Action (...) button:
- Click Import Users:
- Select the spreadsheet from your device and click Open.
- The system reviews the headers from your spreadsheet and matches them its the closest match in Fiix. If there are any differences, the tool will prompt you to review. Click the down arrow under Destination fields and click the closest match to change the field.
- Click Continue.
- The system may prompt you to review your data for issues before submitting:
- Spelling mistakes and minor errors will be corrected to their closest possible match, but you will be prompted to review before continuing.
- Duplicate data (values that must be unique, like usernames and email addresses) are highlighted with the error This email is already in use or Value is not unique. You can edit this data directly in the form or edit your spreadsheet and re-upload it:
- Click Submit.
