Before you begin
Only administrators can deactivate stock locations. Non-administrators can’t deactivate stock locations or view inactive stock locations.
If you no longer need a stock location, you can deactivate it to prevent other users from accessing it. For example, deactivating a stock location prevents technicians from accidentally selecting it when consuming parts in work orders.
When you deactivate a stock location:
- Non-administrators can no longer see that location when consuming parts in work orders (if using the web app) or when viewing the stock list in Supplies > Current Stock or Supplies > Parts and Supplies > Stock.
- Administrators (the only users who can view inactive stock locations) can still see the stock location throughout the CMMS, but it's displayed with a paused icon in the Status column to show that it's not active:
Note
Currently, inactive stock locations are still displayed in the mobile app. This limitation will be addressed in a future release.
You can only deactivate a stock record if the quantity on hand is 0 and it’s not associated with any of the following items:
-
Active scheduled maintenance
-
Open purchase orders
-
Open work orders
-
Open cycle counts
-
Draft receipts
