Shared Dashboards (Released Dec 17)
Managers and administrators can now create and share customized dashboards with other users.
Previously, you could only assign the four standard dashboards (administrator, manager, purchasing, and technician), and you had little control over what information users were receiving. For example, a user might remove a widget from their dashboard, and then later be unaware of important information that the widget would have displayed. Similarly, they could also add widgets that contain data outside of what you want them to focus on.
Now, with the addition of shared dashboards, you can create dashboards and assign them to the appropriate user groups. If necessary, you can also disable edit permissions in dashboards to prevent users from being able to add, remove, or edit widgets.
Overview
You can tell which dashboards are shared dashboards by looking for the shared dashboards icon () on the tab:
In the example above, "Executives" is a shared dashboard.
Creating and adding shared dashboards follows a similar process to creating a blank standard dashboard. Shared dashboards are marked with a darker grey background:
Once you've created a shared dashboard, you can assign it in Settings > CMMS Settings > Dashboard Permissions:
Technical notes
- Only users assigned the standard administrator or manager dashboard can create shared dashboards. These users can also edit dashboards, regardless of whether editing is enabled for other users. To learn more about dashboard permissions, see Configuring Dashboard Permissions.
- You can only assign one dashboard to each user group. If you need to assign more than one dashboard to a user, assign that user multiple user groups and they'll be able to access the dashboards assigned to each user group they belong to.
