Before you begin
The system-default roles of Manager and Technician can’t be deleted, but can be renamed.
Audience: Administrators and users with the "Delete system roles" system role permission.
Version: v6 (what does this mean?)
A role can be deleted if:
- It has no users assigned to it.
- It is not a system-default role like Manager or Technician.

Delete roles
To delete multiple roles (bulk delete):
- Navigate to Settings > System roles.
- Select the checkbox of the roles you want to delete.

Click the Actions dropdown menu button in the floating action bar and select Delete.

Confirm your deletion by clicking Delete in the confirmation pop-up.
- If you receive the error "The system role View only cannot be deleted because there are still users assigned to them. To delete these roles, reassign those users." then continue to the next step.
Remove users from roles
A role can't be deleted if users are assigned to roles.
To find and remove users from a role before deleting the role:
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
- Click the System roles dropdown filter:
- In the dropdown filter, click the system role you want to remove users from:
- The user list now only shows only the users assigned to the role you selected. To remove these users from the selected role, click the user's name:
- On the user's detail page, click the Access Control tab:
- Click the System roles tab:
- Uncheck the role that the user is assigned to, or choose a new role (users can only be assigned to one role):
- Click Save.
- Repeat for all users assigned to the role. Once all users have been removed from the role, then the role can be deleted.
